Motorola Droid: Android 2.1

I thought that when I got the Droid I was buying into an open source OS that would continually grow and eventually overtake the iphone. Of course, even with 2.0.1 I kinda feel it is a really close match.

That many on the forums say that they didn't think this was the case, etc, is just ludicrous.

Do I mind paying for OS updates? No. But that isn't even being talked about as an option.

And other than Motorola finally saying, hey, we haven't released any updates, there is no indication that Verizon or Motorola feel they owe Droid owners updates as they come out.

Granted, at some point the hardware won't support new updates... but are we at that point now? Wow, snap (dragon)...

Do no harm.

(Sure, buyer beware, no where did my contract say that buying a Droid would allow me to update to x version, etc, but that is something to think about if you are considering Droid over other smartphones.)

If V gets the iPhone or some version, I hope they consider a discount for current customers, and a plan, to use both phones. My freaking Touch apps rule. Jenny loves the device and if it dialed via Verizon Network we both would be in heaven.

Of course not.. The Droid must be very far from that point, since even the G1 can run 2.1 . (while it can't officially)
